Rockapella to open Brooks Center 2008-2009 season
CLEMSON — Male vocal ensemble Rockapella will perform at 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 4, at the Brooks Center for the Performing Arts at Clemson University.
This is the first stop on the American leg of the group's international tour, which includes a performance in South Korea six days before the Clemson show.
“Rockapella is a Clemson favorite,” said Lillian Harder, director of the Brooks Center, who said the group has performed at Clemson twice before.
“Excellent entertainers, they are sure to kick off our season on just the right note,” she said.
The a capella group includes tenors Scott Leonard, Kevin Wright and John K. Brown; bass George Baldi; and vocal percussionist Jeff Thacher. Rockapella gained national fame in 1991 with an appearance on the PBS special “Do It A Cappella,” a film produced by Spike Lee. They also are known for their theme song for the PBS television show, “Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?”
Tickets for Rockapella are $20 for adults and $10 for students. Tickets and information are available at www.clemson.edu/Brooks or by calling the box office at 864-656-7787 from 1 to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday.
