Beijing finance scholar schedules Greenville visit, talk
GREENVILLE – Jianping Shi, professor of finance at Beijing’s Central University of Finance and Economics (CUFE) and a senior visiting scholar with the Clemson University Center for China Studies, will speak about China’s banking industry at noon on Friday, March 7, at the Commerce Club in Greenville.
Shi’s lunchtime address is part of the Clemson University Center for China Studies Speaker Series and sponsored by HS Pharmaceuticals LLC. It is co-hosted by the Clemson Renaissance Center, a unit of the College of Business and Behavioral Science.
“Having witnessed China’s financial reforms over the last 30 years, Dr. Shi has personal knowledge and insight into the status and future development of China’s banking system,” said Xiaobo Hu, Clemson political science professor and director of the Center for China Studies.
In addition to being a finance professor, Shi has served as assistant president of CUFE since 2006. He was dean of the finance faculty from 1999 to 2006 and chairman of the finance department from 1987 to 1999. He also has been a member of the National Commission on Certification of China Banking Professionals, a board member of China Society for Finance and Banking and vice president of Beijing Association of International Finance. He received his Ph.D. in economics and master’s degree in finance, both from CUFE.
The Commerce Club is located at 55 Beattie Place, Suite 1700, in Greenville. The luncheon meeting is $20 and registration is available at http://business.clemson.edu/rencenter/RenaissanceCtr.htm
