Obama policy adviser schedules Clemson visit
CLEMSON – Samantha Power, a senior policy adviser for the Barack Obama campaign, will speak at 2 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 14, in the Self Auditorium at the Strom Thurmond Institute at Clemson University.
Power is the Anna Lindh Professor of Global Leadership and Public Policy at Harvard University and is the founding director of the Carr Center for Human Rights Policy at Harvard. She won a Pulitzer Prize for her book “A Problem from Hell: America and the Age of Genocide.”
From 1993 to 1996, she covered the conflicts in the former Yugoslavia as a reporter for U.S.News and World Report, the Boston Globe and The Economist. In 2007, she became a foreign policy columnist for TIME magazine.
Power won the 2005 National Magazine Award for Best Reporting for her article in The New Yorker magazine about Darfur, Sudan.
