Craig named to national board of Bardoli Global
CLEMSON — Starlett Craig, director of the Office of Academic Excellence at Clemson University’s Charles H. Houston Center, has been appointed to the national board of Bardoli Global Inc.
Bardoli Global supports study-abroad experiences for racial and ethnic minority students in higher education. Part of the mission of Bardoli is to establish partnerships with leading study-abroad providers to eliminate the cost barriers associated with it. Bardoli’s most formidable partner is the American Field Services Intercultural Studies, an organization that provides scholarships for high school students to study abroad.
“New partnerships with school districts and community organizations are expanding the opportunities for high school students to get a head start on travel and work experience abroad,” Craig said. “This is a perfect opportunity for me to combine my passion for study abroad with the target group that I serve in South Carolina.”
The Office of Academic Excellence in the Charles H. Houston Center for the Study of the Black Experience in Education implements precollege enrichment and academic-mentoring programs that support the recruitment and retention of college students.
Craig’s program coordinates Discover Clemson, Research Exploration and the SAT Boot Camp. Services of the Office of Academic Excellence include counseling, study-skills training and academic support. One Bardoli Scholar who participated in Discover Clemson in June is spending the rest of the summer in a study-abroad program in China.
