Botanical Garden schedules flower show and meet the artist events
CLEMSON — Two special events are planned this month at the South Carolina Botanical Garden.
The Garden Club of South Carolina and the Botanical Garden will present "From the Mountains to the Sea," a standard flower show celebrating National Garden Week and the garden.
The event will be from 1 to 4:30 p.m. June 5 at the garden’s Fran Hanson Discovery Center. It is free to the public.
“Garden Walk and Gallery Talk,” an event to meet South Carolina artist Deana Chavis Baker, will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 21 at the Fran Hanson Discovery Center Gallery.
Baker will paint an oil painting inspired by the the garden’s landscape. She also will conduct guided walks through the art gallery where 30 of her recent works are on exhibit through June 30. She was one of the many South Carolina artists who showcased their work at the center when it was featured as the Wren House, a Southern Living Idea Project Home in 1998.
The gallery walks will be at 10:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 1 p.m., 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. and will last 15 to 30 minutes.
