CLEMSON – Leslie Dunlap Callison of Lexington has been elected president of the Clemson Alumni Association. She steps into the role July 1.

Leslie CallisonAs president, she follows in her father’s footsteps. Thornwell Dunlap Jr. of Greenwood served as president of the Alumni Association in 1995-96.

Callison, a third-generation Clemson alumna, graduated with a degree in administrative management in 1981. While at Clemson she was a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority, a little sister of Alpha Tau Omega fraternity and a Tiger Twirler. She also met her husband, Scott, who was a Clemson student. She earned her Master of Business Administration from the University of South Carolina in 1985.

After a stint in the banking industry, Callison left the workforce to raise her two children, both of whom are now students at Clemson. Caroline is a junior majoring in marketing and Reel is a freshman in general engineering.

Callison has been an active volunteer in her community, her church and for Clemson. She served as a board member for Columbia’s EdVenture Children’s Museum and the Lexington High School Athletic Booster Club. She is a deacon for Saxe Gotha Presbyterian Church in Lexington, where she was a coordinator the capital campaign. She served as a board member for Clemson’s Women’s Alumni Council, is an active member of Clemson’s Second Century Luncheon Club in Columbia and has served on the Alumni National Council since 2003.

One of Callison’s main tasks as president will be to oversee the restructuring and expansion of the Alumni National Council, the governing body of the Alumni Association. Her primary goal is to get more people involved with the association.

“I believe the Clemson experience can be a lifelong one for every alumnus,” said Callison. “My focus will be on connecting the University with as many graduates as possible, renewing in each of them the pride that is uniquely Clemson.”
