Ongoing events

First Friday Nature Walk

Meet Dr. David Bradshaw, naturalist and horticulture professor, at the flag pole in the front parking area near the Cadet Life Garden and the Red Caboose. This informative walk encompasses all forms of nature: birds, trees, signs of wildlife and more. Wear comfortable shoes; walks last one to two hours. Free.

Time: 7 a.m.

Geology museum

Visit the Campbell Geology Museum on the third weekend of the month and get free admission. See exhibits of fossils, minerals, rocks and gems; there's a fluorescent mineral room with black lights that help them glow.

Hours: 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Wednesday-Saturday and 1-5 p.m. Sunday

Featured artists

The 2008 rotating exhibit features South Carolina artisys. The display changes quarterly so there's something new to see all year long.

Elizabeth Belser Fuller Gallery

This collection of watercolors, mixed-media and pen and ink drawings was by Elizabeth Belser Fuller. Works in the collection range from 1947 to 1992. The gallery overlooks the Elizabeth Belser Fuller Reflection Garden in the back yard of the Fran Hanson Discovery Center. The windows bring the outdoors in and allow the visitor to look over the meadows of the garden that has been an inspiration for Mrs. Fuller for decades.

The art gallery is located inside the Fran Hanson Discovery Center and has a permanent collection of paintings by Mrs. Fuller.

Introduction to Jewelry Making

The Introduction to Jewelry Making class can help you design and make the perfect piece of jewelry that will have all of your friends talking. You will learn the basics of closing a necklace, which string to use, how to use crimping pliers and more. If you do not have a clue about how to start making your own jewelry, or you just feel a little rusty, this is the class for you.

Cost: $35, including materials

Advanced Jewelry 1

Learn how to work with multiple strands and to work with beads in ways you never thought were possible. You also will be taught color composition so your jewelry is the prettiest it can be. If you have taken Introduction to Jewelry Making, or have a good handle on jewelry-making basics, then you are ready to move on to Advanced Jewelry 1.

Cost: $40, including materials

Advanced Jewelry 2

With all of the knowledge that you have gathered from Introduction to Jewelry Making and Advanced Jewelry 1, you are now ready to test your skills in Advanced Jewelry 2. This class gives you more freedom to use your own creativity. If there is a specific design that you have been wanting to try but did not know where to start bring it in to this class.

Cost: $45, including materials
