Race to the Rock scheduled to benefit libraries
CLEMSON – The president and first lady of Clemson University will lace up their running shoes later this month to benefit the university libraries.
James F. Barker and his wife, Marcia, will lead runners in the ninth annual Race to the Rock: The President’s Race for the Library, on Saturday, March 29. Registration begins at 7:15 a.m. with the race beginning at 8:15 a.m. behind the Cooper Library. The 5K will follow a path from the library to Howard’s Rock at Memorial Stadium.
The Palmetto Grand Prix event is U.S. Track and Field-certified, with the finish line by RMS Sports using the ChampionChip Timing System.
Register online at www.clemson.edu/president/race or by mail by going to the Web site and printing out the registration form and mailing it along with your fee.
Race fee is $20 for adults and $15 for ages 12 and under. Entry fees are nonrefundable. The fee is $20 for all ages on the day of the race.
A medal and $50 cash prize will be awarded to overall male and female winners. There will be prizes for male and female winners in the following age groups: 12 and under, 13-17, 18-24, 25-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 and over.
All children 12 and under who race will receive a prize.
Teams with a minimum of four runners and a maximum of six runners may enter the team competition. The top four times will be averaged and a prize will be awarded to the team with the best averaged time. Include the team name on the registration form. A free T-shirt will be included with all pre-registrations. Anyone registering on race day will receive a free T-shirt while supplies last.
