Rodney Atkins added to lineup for Solid Orange Live
Country star to headline Saturday night of festival
CLEMSON – Country star Rodney Atkins has been added to the lineup of performers for Clemson’s Solid Orange Live, a two-day music festival April 11-12. Atkins will be the headliner on the second night of the event.
Atkins’ single “Cleaning This Gun (Come On In Boy)” currently tops the country charts. It’s his fourth straight No. 1 hit from his album “If You’re Going Through Hell,” making him the first country artist to have four straight chart-toppers in seven years.
He is nominated for six Academy of Country Music Awards, including Top Male Vocalist, Album of the Year, Song of the Year and Video of the Year.
Solid Orange Live will take place on the lawn surrounding Littlejohn Coliseum and will feature a midway of carnival games and rides – including a 60-foot Ferris wheel – as well as concerts, food, merchandise from area vendors and more. The festival adds to the excitement and fun of an already busy weekend at Clemson, with the annual spring football game Saturday, April 12, a home baseball series against UNC, a women’s tennis match against Maryland and the Solid Orange Classic outdoor track and field meet.
The main draw of the festival will be the music, which ranges from rock to pop to reggae to urban to country. Friday’s lineup includes performances from 1980s pop star Eddie Money; reggae band The Wailers, best known for their work with the legendary Bob Marley; and hip-hop artist Wyclef Jean. Saturday will feature Atkins, along with pop star Colbie Caillat, songwriter Jason Reeves and Athens rock band The Whigs. Local favorites will be added to the schedule following a “battle of the bands” competition.
Tickets for the festival are available at the Littlejohn Coliseum box office, TicketMaster outlets and online at www.ticketmaster.com. Advance weekend tickets are on sale through April 6 and are $35. The week of the show, weekend ticket prices go up to $50. Daily passes are available the day of the show for $30 per day. Children under 12 will be admitted free. All seating is general admission. A ticket allows entrance to the carnival midway, but tickets for carnival rides are 50 cents each.
A limited number of VIP weekend tickets are available for $110 for adults and $50 for children ages 4 to 12. A VIP ticket includes food and beverages, exclusive seating, a lounge area inside Littlejohn Coliseum and tickets for all carnival rides. VIP tickets are available at the Littlejohn box office and through TicketMaster.
Gates will open at noon Friday and 10 a.m. Saturday, and events both days will end at midnight. Final entertainment schedules will be posted online at www.solidorangelive.com by Saturday, April 5.
