Campus recreation hosts Sons and Daughters of Dear Old Clemson Road Race

CLEMSON – Clemson University will host the fourth annual Sons and Daughters of Dear Old Clemson Road Race Saturday, March 8.

The 1-mile walk will begin at 8 a.m., the 10K run (6.2 miles) will begin at 9 a.m. Both start at Fort Hill, the historic home of John C. Calhoun and Thomas Green Clemson. The finish line for the 10K run will be at the Town Square in Pendleton and a CAT bus will be on hand to shuttle participants back to campus.

Any money raised from the fees after all expenses are covered will go to preserving Clemson’s historic properties, which include Fort Hill.

“The event provides an activity that promotes fitness – preservation of both the participants health and our campus history,” said Susan Pope, fitness and marketing director for campus recreation.

The cost is $20 for university students and employees and $25 for all others. Participants may register at Fike Recreation Center or online at www.active.com for an additional $3 processing fee. The event cost will include providing a race T-shirt to the first 200 participants.
