4-H Sporting Clay Shotgun winners announced
CLEMSON — The 2008 4-H Sporting Clay Shotgun contest was held May 3 at the Clinton House Plantation in Clinton. Awards were given for the top three individuals and teams in both the junior and senior divisions.
The winners are:
Senior Team awards (14-19 years old)
First place: Pickens County – Scooter Barnwell, Daniel Williams, Alex Prater, Jessie Moore
Second place: Marlboro County – Scott Smith, Garrison Quick, David Blackmon, Johnathan Thrash
Third place: Dillon County – Henry Easterling, Aaron Gardner, Cody Gasque, J.T. Baxley
Senior Individual awards
First place: Garrison Quick – Marlboro County
Second place: Austin Longshore, Newberry County
Third place: Grant Polson, Marlboro County
Junior Team awards (9 to 13 years old)
First place: Pickens County - Adam Willey, Isaac Moore, Jamie Oswald, John Moore
Second place: Dillon County - Logan Cox, Aubrey Brunson, Dallas Sweat
Third place: Newberry County – Sean Blanton, Austin Bartley, Bobby McCleod
Junior Individual awards
First place: Isaac Moore – Pickens County
Second place: Logan Cox – Dillon County
Third place: Adam Willey – Pickens County
“We want to thank the Clinton House for hosting us and running a smooth event,” said Rick Willey, Clemson extension 4-H natural resources specialist.
Through the 4-H Shooting Sports Program, youth learn marksmanship, the safe and responsible use of firearms, the principles of hunting and archery, and more. The activities of the program and the support of caring adult leaders provide young people with opportunities to develop life skills, self worth and conservation ethics.
