Columbia resident receives Clemson Alumni Distinguished Service Award
CLEMSON — The Clemson University Alumni Association has recognized Dr. Eddie Robinson of Columbia as one of five winners of the 2009 Distinguished Service Award, the university’s highest alumni honor.
Distinguished Service Award honorees demonstrate a dedication to enhancing the value of the university for future generations; service to church, community, profession and public service; and personal accomplishments that serve as a model for present and future Clemson students.
Robinson graduated from Clemson in 1979 and from Tuskegee University’s School of Veterinary Medicine. He owns Midlands Veterinary Practice in Columbia. He is president of the Lake Murray/Irmo Rotary Club, which named him a Paul Harris Fellow in 2003. He also is involved in a number of Columbia and statewide commitments, from mentoring children to serving on state commissions.
Robinson has been active in the Clemson Black Alumni Council, served on the Clemson University Board of Advisors and was president of the Clemson Alumni Association in 2003-2004. He serves on the board of directors for both IPTAY and the Clemson University Foundation.
Robinson and wife Cynthia have two children: Lawyrn and Randall, who is a sophomore at Clemson.
