Clemson University to hold Master Naturalist program May 2-July 25
TRYON, N.C. — Would you like to make a difference in helping to maintain the quality of native ecosystems? Learn to understand the underlying geology, specific inhabitants, ecology and the impacts of humans on the landscape in a Master Naturalist program offered by Clemson University.
Register online at http://www.clemson.edu/masternaturalist/ or, for more information, contact Melissa LeRoy at 828-859-9021. Cost is $600, which includes all educational resources needed for the program.
The classes will be held at the Foothills Equestrian and Nature Center in Tryon with field trips to various state parks from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each Saturday, May 2-July 25 (excluding July 4).
After training, Master Naturalists may participate in many different types of volunteer activities, including assisting in nature outreach programs, participating in a bird census, collecting data on water quality, or other activities.
The program aims to turn out volunteer citizen scientists who can positively impact the natural resources of the state. South Carolina Master Naturalist training is sponsored by Clemson University Extension and the Foothills Equestrian and Nature Center.
