Free SAT/ACT combo practice test offered to high school students
CLEMSON — College hopefuls can take a free full-length SAT/ACT combo practice test from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 2 at Clemson University’s Tillman Hall auditorium. This opportunity replaces the annual SAT Boot Camp, canceled this summer due to budget cuts.
Offered by Kaplan Test Prep and Admissions and Clemson’s Charles H. Houston Center, the test is open to all high school students. While students are taking the practice test, their parents are invited to a workshop that begins at 10 a.m. across the street in Brackett Hall. It will provide information about the college admission process and how to find scholarships, grants and loans to pay for college.
Both the practice test and the parent workshop are free, but registration is required, for students and parents, by calling 864-656-4720 or e-mailing cstarle@clemson.edu.
Kaplan also is offering registered students a free QuizBank with online access to 1,700 SAT questions and 1,700 ACT questions.
“When they learned how budget cuts would affect the lives of South Carolina residents hoping for college, Kaplan really stepped up and made something good happen,” said Starlett Craig, director of the Houston Center’s Office of Academic Excellence. “Kaplan has made these programs convenient and accessible to all students by offering them free through the Houston Center.”
Students who cannot attend the free practice May 2 at Clemson can call 800-KAP-TEST to find an alternate location near Columbia, Charleston or Greenville.
