Clemson food science and human nutrition professor wins national award

CLEMSON — Katherine Cason, Clemson University food science and human nutrition professor, has received an award from the American Dietetic Association Foundation.

Cason won the award for her leadership in innovative and unique programs for the prevention of disease and promotion of health in the state, including the Lucy’s Tasty Treasures program, her nutrition information and resource center Web site and for nutrition, diet and health podcasts in both English and Spanish.

She serves as leader for nutrition, diet and health programs as well as coordinator of the Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program, a position she has held for more than 17 years.

She will attend the awards banquet in October in Denver.
