Media Advisory: Launch of S.C. Market Maker

Join state officials at “A S.C. Taste” for the launch of S.C. Market Maker, an innovative online resource that puts South Carolina’s freshest seafood and agriculture in the hands of consumers. The launch will be at 11:30 a.m. April 29 at the State Capitol Complex, Blatt Building Plaza, in Columbia.

Market Maker is part of a national online network that connects the entire supply chain, from growers and fishermen to distributors, retailers and consumers.

Bringing Market Maker to South Carolina is a cooperative effort between Clemson University Public Service Activities, S.C. Department of Agriculture, S.C. Sea Grant Consortium and the U.S. Department of Agriculture Natural Resources Conservation Service.

View online demonstrations of how Market Maker works and the benefits it offers the state’s agriculture and seafood industries.

S.C. Commissioner of Agriculture Hugh E. Weathers, Rick DeVoe, executive director of the S.C. Sea Grant Consortium; Doug Deaderick of the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service; and R. David Lamie, extension specialist at the Clemson Institute for Economic and Community Development, will be available to answer questions about the new e-commerce service.
