Fike Recreation Center to offer “Gymsitter” service during home football games

CLEMSON — Clemson University's Fike Recreation Center is offering its Gymsitter service again this year for parents who plan to attend most home football games and need someplace to send their young children.

Children ages 3 to 10 can participate in the program, which will be offered for every home game that is set to kick off before 7 p.m. The fee is $50 per child in advance and $60 per child after the registration deadline has passed, depending on space availability.

Children in the program will participate music, sports, arts and crafts, fitness relays and activities and swimming, and will have nutritious snacks. The children will be under the supervision of the Gymsitter staff members, who are CPR/defibrillator and first-aid certified with experience working with children.

“The entire family can come for the weekend. Not only does Fike serve students, but also the Clemson community and members of our Clemson family who travel from out of town,” said Susan Pope, director of fitness programs and services for the campus recreation department. “We want to give children an opportunity to savor the Clemson experience and spirit.”

To register a child for the Gymsitters program, contact Fike Recreation Center at 864-656-6673 or download the registration form from the Web site. Forms and payment must be faxed or mailed and received no later than the Monday before the game to get the early registration fee. Space is limited and will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
