Brooks Center party goes country and western
CLEMSON — Revelers at this year’s Brooks Center fundraising gala can kick up their heels as the party celebrates the theme “Diamonds & Denim.” The country and western-styled party is set for 7 p.m. Saturday, March 7, in the Grand Ballroom of Clemson University’s Madren Center.
“Folks can break out their tuxedos and gowns or their most comfortable pair of blue jeans and boots. It makes no difference, as long as you’re comfortable and ready to have a good time,” said Lillian Harder, director of the performing arts center at Clemson.
The benefit’s silent auction will feature a wide selection of restaurant, vacation and golf packages in addition to original artwork by local artisans, Clemson sports paraphernalia and numerous surprise items. The Second Nature Band of Camden will play familiar favorites, including rhythm and blues, beach, classic rock and country and western. Madren Center chefs will provide a cocktail buffet.
Proceeds from the party support activities and programs at the Brooks Center, among them the Eskridge Tri-ART Series, the center’s educational outreach program for children, grants-in-aid for Clemson’s top performing arts students and equipment upgrades for the center.
“For several years, the party has surpassed our expectations,” Harder said. “We hope to do the same this year. I invite all who love the performing arts to take part.”
Tickets are $80 each, with $40 tax deductible. A table for 10 can be purchased for $800. The event is limited to 200 guests. Reservations are available by calling Harder 864-656-3094.
