FALL KITCHEN GARDENING WORKSHOP
South Carolina’s mild climate provides plenty of time to have a beautiful and productive kitchen garden almost year-round.  Cool-season vegetables grown in the fall can often be more productive than in spring, with fewer insect problems and less variable temperatures. Join Lisa Wagner to discuss the wide range of cool-season vegetables, greens and herbs that can extend kitchen gardening, as well as how and when to plant them. Participants will have the opportunity to select seeds to try, sow a variety of cool-season vegetables for later transplant, and learn about
succession planting.
Fee: $25 ($20 for members & volunteers)
Time: 9:30 a.m.-noon
Location: Nature Learning Center

ART GALLERY
Featured artists for August: Connie Lippert (wedge-weave tapestries with hand-dyed yarn), Blake Smith (landscape photography), Kent Ambler (woodcut and linocut prints), Phil Garrett (acrylic and oil paintings) and Lynn Greer (watercolor).

Visit the Fuller Galleries in the Fran Hanson Discovery Center to see a rotating collection of artwork by artisans inspired by the materials, nature and beauty of the Upstate. Up to six artists at a time, all connected to the Upstate area, showcase their work together. At least one new artist rotates into the collection each month, so there's always something new to see. Artwork ranging from paintings to ceramics, baskets to photography, are available for sale, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the South Carolina Botanical Garden.

The Fran Hanson Discovery Center also houses a permanent display of Elizabeth Belser Fuller’s extensive collection of wildflower and nature paintings.

Admission: Free
