Register now for Clemson Extension Lowcountry lawn and garden classes
CHARLESTON — Register now for a five-week basic horticulture class, “Sowing & Growing in the Lowcountry,” that begins Aug. 6 in the orientation theater at Magnolia Plantation and Gardens in Charleston.
Classes are taught by Clemson Extension agents and meet from 6 to 8 p.m. each Thursday through Sept. 3. The cost is $75 per person or $100 per family, and includes textbooks, handouts and a soil test kit. Class size is limited; the deadline to register is July 23.
This is a beginner’s level series tailored for Lowcountry gardeners. It covers the basics of soil fertility and improvement, annual and perennial gardens, home lawn care, tree and shrub care and vegetable gardening.
“This series will provide the most up-to-date information on home garden and lawn care. It is perfect for the novice gardener and would be an excellent primer course for those interested in the Master Gardener program,” said Amy Dabbs, Clemson Extension consumer horticulture agent.
To register, contact Paula Varn at the Clemson Extension office at 201 Johnston Street in St. George, 843-563-5772, pvarn@clemson.edu.
