Ongoing: Garden Yoga

Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday
Renee Gahan leads Vinyasa Yoga classes for every skill level. In Vinyasa Yoga, students move through a series of postures focusing on the breath. Attention is paid to proper alignment and guidance is provided in how to develop poses in the body. For more information, visit Gahan's website: http://clemsonyoga.typepad.com/.

Fee: $12 for drop-in; $50 for five-class pass or $35 for full-time students; $60 for monthly pass

Garden Sprouts (for children ages 3-5 and a caregiver)
Wednesdays, July 8-29
Young children will discover the wonders of the garden in a preschool program led by Sue Watts. Blending the garden’s unique resources with imaginative and fun ways to learn about plants and animals, Watts introduces a new theme each week, offering a program full of discovery, observation, songs, crafts, walks and engaging activities to captivate young minds.
Time: 10-11:30 a.m. Wednesdays
Fee: $40 for each four-week session ($35 for garden members and volunteers)

Nature Discovery Hike: Revealing Reptiles
Thursday, July 9
Summer is the perfect time to find reptiles warming up in a sunny spot. Christian Cicimurri will lead a hike to find ever-present anoles and pond turtles and maybe catch a glimpse of the more elusive snakes and lizards. These walks are appropriate for all ages; however, strollers and other wheeled devices are not recommended.  Inclement weather will cancel hike.
Time: 10 a.m.–11 a.m.
Fee: $7 per family up to five people, $5 for garden members and volunteers
Location: Meet at the caboose parking lot

Friday Morning Beads: Dazzling Diva Bracelet
Friday, July 10
Spend the morning crafting a beautiful, personal design made with stones from the Geology Museum. In this class, you’ll create an elegant bracelet adorned with pearls and natural gemstones. Suitable for ages 8 and older; all materials are included.
Time: 10 a.m.–noon Friday  
Fee: $15; $12 for garden members and volunteers

Stream Exploration
Tuesday, July 14
Join Christian Cicimurri for a hands-on exploration of the geology and wildlife associated with Hunnicutt Creek. We’ll explore how the stream was formed, look for animals dependent on it and discuss the future of this important feature of the garden. This program is appropriate for ages 4 and older; however, strollers and other wheeled devices are not recommended. Plan to get your feet wet and dress appropriately. Inclement weather will cancel the hike.
Time: 10 a.m.–noon Tuesday
Fee: $15; $12 for garden members and volunteers

Friday, July 17
Spend the morning crafting a beautiful, personal design made with stones from the Geology Museum. In this class, you’ll create a dazzling, personalized ring featuring natural gemstones.  Suitable for ages 8 and older; all materials are included.
Time: 10 a.m.–noon

Friday, July 31
Spend the morning crafting a beautiful, personal design made with stones from the Geology Museum. In this class, you’ll create a sparkling necklace made from natural stones in the colors and excitement of summertime. Suitable for ages 8 & up, and all materials are included.

GARDEN INFORMATION

Art Gallery
Visit the Featured Artist Gallery in the Fran Hanson Discovery Center to see a rotating collection of artwork by artisans inspired by the materials, nature and beauty of the Upstate. Up to six artists at a time, all connected to the Upstate area, showcase their work together. At least one new artist rotates into the collection each month, so there's always something new to see. Artwork ranging from paintings to ceramics, baskets to photography is available for sale, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the South Carolina Botanical Garden.

The Fran Hanson Discovery Center also houses the Elizabeth Belser Fuller Gallery, permanently showcasing Fuller's extensive collection of wildflower and nature paintings.

The Garden Gift Shop is located at the Fran Hanson Discovery Center and is open 10 a.m.–4 p.m. Monday-Saturday. Hours
The S.C. Botanical Garden is open from dawn until dusk 365 days a year.
Discovery Center and Garden Gift Shop hours: 10 a.m.–4 p.m. Monday to Saturday. Admission is free.
Bob Campbell Geology Museum hours: 10 a.m.–5 p.m. Wednesday to Saturday and 1-5 p.m. Sunday. Admission: $3 for adults and $2 for children ages 12 and under. Annual passes available; free admission for garden members.

Background
The South Carolina Botanical Garden is located on the Clemson University campus at the intersection of U.S. 76 and Perimeter Road. It encompasses 295 acres of display gardens, nature trails, woodlands and streams, and is open year-round from dawn to dusk, free of charge. The garden is partially supported by the state of South Carolina via Clemson University, but relies on private funding, memberships and proceeds from educational events to continue operations.
