Pickens County 4-H program to hold 4-H2O camp this summer
PICKENS — Clemson extension and the Pickens County 4-H program are offering a 4-H2O camp for ages 8 to 12 June 8-10 at Mile Creek County Park near Six Mile. The cost is $60, which includes a certificate of completion, T-shirt, program supplies, morning snack and daily lunch.
Participants will collect water samples, observe microscopic and macroscopic life, conduct water-quality experiments and explore streams.
Participants will get the chance to learn about enhancing and preserving the intricacies of the aquatic ecosystem and the basic techniques of fishing, bait-crafting and orienteering.
“By integrating classroom teaching methods with hands-on activities, the 4-H20 Camp has successfully educated numerous youths,” said Marguerite Porter, Clemson extension 4-H agent in Pickens County. “We believe this program will ultimately benefit the entire community by enhancing environmental awareness.”
For registration information, contact Porter at 864-878-1394 or marguer@clemson.edu. The camp is limited to the first 20 paid registrants. The deadline is May 22.
