Pickens County 4-H livestock fun day and mock show set for May 2

PICKENS — Pickens County 4-H has scheduled a livestock fun day and mock show for youths ages 5-17 from 1:30 to 7 p.m. May 2 at Southland Ranch, 1932 Belle Shoals Road, Pickens. The event is free.

The program is designed to introduce young people to the livestock program. Participants will get to learn about animal care, handling and showing in the ring.  Several animals will be on hand, including cows, sheep, goats and chickens. Every participant will be given the opportunity to show an animal in the show ring and compete for prizes.

Workshops will be taught by Clemson University students who are experienced in animal care, animal specialists and general livestock specialists

Dinner will be shared with the Pickens Cattlemen’s Association.

To register call the Pickens County Extension Office at 864-878-1394 no later than April 15.
