Join Pickens County 4-H for the Great American Backyard Campout

PICKENS — Grab a tent and marshmallow stick, it is almost time for the Great American Backyard Campout. This year marks the fifth annual campout sponsored by the National Wildlife Federation.

The campout will be held from 4:30 p.m. to 9 a.m. June 27 at Greenbriar Farms in Easley. Children ages 6-13 and families may choose to camp on their own or camp with Pickens County 4-H. The cost is $5.

The campout is an event designed to help people relive or experience for the first time the joy of sleeping under the stars

Pickens County 4-H will have a light dinner, s'mores, camp songs and night-time nature activities. Every child must be accompanied by an adult and each family must bring its own tent and sleeping materials. Indoor facilities are provided in the event of bad weather and there are restrooms available.

Participants who would like to camp with Pickens County 4-H should contact the Clemson University extension office at 864-878-1394. For those who would like to participate on their own, visit www.backyardcampout.org for activities, guides and registration.
