"I want to give a special thanks to Mid-Carolina Gun Club for hosting the events and to their members for taking care of all the trapping and scoring," said Rick Willey, Clemson extension 4-H natural resources specialist. "In addition, a huge thanks to all the 4-H volunteers and parents for giving their time and devotion to the 4-H shooting sports program. Without their commitment, this opportunity for these youths would not be possible."
The state 4-H sporting clay shoot is set for May 16 at Hermitage Farms Gun Club in Camden.
Through the 4-H Shooting Sports Program, youth learn marksmanship, the safe and responsible use of firearms, the principles of hunting and archery and more. The activities of the program and the support of caring adult leaders provide young people with opportunities to develop life skills, self-worth and conservation ethics.
