S.C. Botanical Garden and Bob Campbell Geology Museum June classes and events

Ongoing: Garden Yoga

Tuesdays and Thursdays

Renee Gahan leads Vinyasa Yoga classes for every skill level. In Vinyasa Yoga, students move through a series of postures focusing on the breath. Attention is paid to proper alignment and guidance is provided in how to develop poses in the body. For more information, visit Gahan's website: http://clemsonyoga.typepad.com/.

Garden Sprouts (for children ages 3-5 and a caregiver)
Wednesdays, June 3-24

Young children will discover the wonders of the garden in a preschool program led by Sue Watts. Blending the garden's unique resources with imaginative and fun ways to learn about plants and animals, Watts will introduce a new theme each week, offering a program full of discovery, observation, songs, crafts, walks and engaging activities to captivate young minds.
Time: 10-11:30 a.m.
Fee: $40 for each four-week session ($35 for garden members and volunteers)

First Friday Nature Walk
Friday, June 5

Meet with a garden staff member for a tour of the garden. Walks visit different garden areas each month and last one to two hours.
Time: 7 a.m.

Flower Day Celebration and Education
Thursday, June 11, and Friday, June 12

The Garden Club of South Carolina hosts this annual event, which features educational exhibits as part of Clemson's Flower Day. View a wide variety of floral arrangements and learn about plants, flowers and all kinds of floral design. Celebrate National Garden Week by learning more about how to showcase your flowers. Two educational programs will be offered to the public free of charge.

10:30 a.m. June 12: "Floral Design Evaluation & Explanation" by Pat Abercrombie

Friday Morning Beads: Spring Ahead Bracelet
Friday, June 12 

Create a sparkling bracelet made from natural stones in the colors of spring. Class is suitable for ages 8 and up. All materials are included.
Time: 10 a.m.-noon
Fee: $15 ($12 for garden members and volunteers)

CHARITE 5K TRAIL RUN
Saturday, June 13

Charite is the Creole word for "to give alms." The goal of this 5K trail run/walk through the garden is to raise awareness about the current level of poverty in the world, to benefit various relief aid trips to the Caribbean, and help raise support for the South Carolina Botanical Garden. Sign up today to run or walk through the garden, and help send a student on a poverty relief trip.

Dinosaur Days of Summer

Tuesday-Thursday, June 16-18 (pre-register by June 9)

Kids love dinosaurs. During this mini-camp, children will learn from Christian Cicimurri about the variety of dinosaurs and their lifestyles and how to identify their favorites. The programs will include hands-on interaction with dinosaur fossils and casts and a craft activity to take home. The camp is appropriate for children ages 7-10, and all materials are included.
Time: 10 a.m.-noon  
Fee: $50 ($45 for garden members and volunteers)

Friday Morning Beads: Sparkling Summer Earrings
Friday, June 19

Create your own sparkling earrings with the colors of summer. Suitable for ages 8 and up, and all materials are included. 
Time: 10 a.m.-noon
Fee: $15 ($12 for garden members and volunteers)

Nature Discovery Hike: Insect Discovery
Tuesday, June 23

Insects are abundant in our warm, sunny climate, however they are sometimes hard to understand. Join Christian Cicimurri on a guided hike of the garden to learn more about the Earth's most diverse animals, from beneficial bugs to harmful pests. Participants can expect to see butterflies, caterpillars, dragonflies, bees and more. These walks are appropriate for all ages; however, strollers and other wheeled devices are not recommended. Inclement weather will cancel hikes.
Time: 10-11 a.m.
Fee: $7 per family up to five members ($5 for garden members and volunteers)
Location: Meet at the Discovery Center parking lot in the Botanical Garden

Friday Morning Beads: Funky Chunky Necklace
Friday, June 26 

Learn how to create a necklace with fun, funky and chunky beads. Suitable for ages 8 and up and all materials are included. 
Time: 10 a.m.-noon
Fee: $15 ($12 for garden members and volunteers)

Art Gallery

Visit the Featured Artist Gallery in the Fran Hanson Discovery Center to see a rotating collection of artwork by artisans inspired by the materials, nature and beauty of the Upstate. Up to six artists at a time, all connected to the Upstate area, showcase their work together. At least one new artist rotates into the collection each month, so there's always something new to see. Artwork ranging from paintings to ceramics, baskets to photography are available for sale, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the South Carolina Botanical Garden.

The Fran Hanson Discovery Center also houses the Elizabeth Belser Fuller Gallery, permanently showcasing Fuller's extensive collection of wildflower and nature paintings.

The Garden Gift Shop and the Bob Campbell Geology Museum Gift Shop offer unique gifts for children and adults, including beautiful handcrafted gift items by local artists, gardening and geology books, t-shirts, local food items, jewelry and more. Hours

The S.C. Botanical Garden is open from dawn until dusk 365 days a year.

Discovery Center and Garden Gift Shop hours: 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday to Saturday. Admission is free.

Bob Campbell Geology Museum Hours: 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Wednesday-Saturday and 1-5 p.m. Sunday. Admission: $3 for adults and $2 for children ages 12 and under. Annual passes available. Free admission for garden members.

General Information

The South Carolina Botanical Garden is located on the Clemson University campus at the intersection of U.S. 76 and Perimeter Road. It encompasses 295 acres of display gardens, nature trails, woodlands and streams and is open year-round from dawn to dusk, free of charge. The garden is partially supported by the state of South Carolina via Clemson University, but relies on private funding, memberships and proceeds from educational events to continue operations.
