Clemson professor of Spanish receives national distinction

CLEMSON — Sigma Delta Pi National Collegiate Hispanic Honor Society recently inducted Clemson University professor of Spanish Graciela Tissera into the distinguished Order of the Discoverers, one of the organization’s highest honors.

The Order of the Discoverers recognizes those who display exceptional service in Hispanic scholarship, Spanish teaching and promotion of good relations between English- and Spanish-speaking countries.

Tissera has been teaching at Clemson since 2003. She has taught courses in Spanish literature, film and business, including several creative inquiry projects in Hispanic literature and film.

“To have been inducted into the Order of the Discoverers is an honor and represents my ongoing commitment to excellence in service and teaching,” said Tissera. “I am privileged to share this distinction with renowned national and international inductees devoted to multicultural dialogues among nations.”

Tissera received her master’s degree from the Universidad Nacional de Córdoba in Argentina and her doctorate from the University of Pennsylvania. She is the interim director of the language and international health program and coordinator of Spanish business courses.
