Four Greenville County residents inducted into national computer science honor society
CLEMSON — Four Greenville County residents were inducted into the Clemson University chapter of Upsilon Pi Epsilon, the national computer science honor society. They are:
Cory Bowers of Taylors, a senior majoring in computer science;
Ryan Crull of Greenville, a junior majoring in computer science;
Hampton Smith of Greer, a doctoral student majoring in computer science; and
Abraham Webber of Greer, a senior majoring in computer information systems.
Upsilon Pi Epsilon recognizes outstanding scholastic and professional achievements in the computing and information disciplines.
The Clemson chapter inducts students twice a year. Membership is by invitation only. Inductees must have at least a B average in computer science courses and at least a B average overall.
Upsilon Pi Epsilon is recognized worldwide as an indication of excellence in computing. Members volunteer to assist with weekly tutoring sessions for undergraduate students in freshmen- and sophomore-level computer science classes. Social activities are promoted to encourage a sense of community among student members and non-members.
