Register for beginner lawn and garden class

SPARTANBURG — Register now for a new three-week beginner gardening program, “Sowing & Growing: Fundamentals of Horticulture,” that begins June 15 at the Clemson extension office in Spartanburg, 142 S. Dean St., Room 216.

The class meets from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays through July 1. The cost is $100 and registration will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Deadline to register is June 10.

This is a beginner’s level home gardening series that includes the basics of soil fertility and improvement, home lawn care, vegetable gardening, tree and shrub care, annual and perennial care and pest management.

“This series will provide the most up-to-date information on home garden and lawn care. It is perfect for the novice gardener and would be an excellent primer course for those interested in the Master Gardener program,” said Cory Tanner, Clemson Extension consumer horticulture agent.

The registration form will be posted on the Spartanburg County Extension office website at: http://www.clemson.edu/extension/county/spartanburg. Forms also may be picked-up at the Clemson Extension office in Spartanburg.
