Clemson performing arts department offering second steel drum workshop

CLEMSON — So many people were interested in the steel drum workshop by Clemson University's performing arts department that there will be a second class Wednesday, July 8, at the Brooks Center for the Performing Arts.

Music professor Paul Buyer will lead “Learn to Play Steel Drums” in room 112 at the Brooks Center 

The hands-on workshop offers participants the opportunity to learn basic pan technique as well as rote learning. They will learn about steel drum construction and history and view professional performances. 

The four-hour workshop begins at 10 a.m. and is limited to 14 participants 18 years or older. The ability to read music is not required.

The cost is $40 per person and includes a catered lunch. The deadline to register is Monday, June 29.
