4-H Summer Fun workshops scheduled for June and July
MONCKS CORNER — The Berkeley County 4-H Youth Development Program is offering summer workshops for youths ages 8-18. All workshops will be held at the Clemson University Extension Service office in Moncks Corner. The workshops are:
Kitchen Survival for Teens for ages 13-18 will be 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 9-11. Hands-on kitchen experiences will be used to teach about food preparation and healthy living. Participants will prepare and even create recipes for breads, casseroles, pizza and stir-fries. Class size is 10 and the cost is $40.
Homemade From Me To You for ages 9-12 will be 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 16. Cooks-to-be will learn food-preparation skills while making jams and jelly, mixes in jars and gift packages. Class size is 10 and the cost is $20.
Stitching for Smiles for ages 9-18 will be June 30-July 1, times to be announced. The class will teach basic sewing skills and sewing machine operation. Participants will make some fun items for themselves and complete a community service project using the skills they have learned. The class size is eight and the cost is $20.
Nature's Art for ages 8-12 will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 10. The class will use gifts from nature to make new projects. Plant materials, recyclable items, seeds and more will be used to make functional items to use and wear. A clean, white T-shirt is needed. The class size is 10 and cost is $15.
Exploring the Cooper and Beyond for ages 10-12 will be 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day June 22-26. This 4-H20 Pontoon Classroom will take place at a variety of sites on the Cooper River, Charleston Harbor and local beaches. Transportation will be provided. Youths will learn about the importance of water resources through experiments, hand-on experiences and field trips. The class size is 30 and the cost is $125.
