Carolina Photonics Consortium receives 28 funding proposals
The Carolinas Photonics Consortium (CPC) Pilot Funding Program received 28 proposals for funding of projects aimed at commercializing photonics-based technologies. Five programs will be chosen by the CPC Advisory Committee on November 12th for an award of $10,000 each, plus business and market development support.

International business names Clemson visiting professor director
Clemson University visiting professor and chemist Arno Rettenbacher has been named director of Innovation and Technology for Swarovski Group, a privately held Austrian firm world renowned for its exclusive brand of crystal jewelry and figurines. Rettenbacher is a visiting professor in the Advanced Material Research Laboratory.

Carolina Photonics Consortium announces funding for new technology projects
The Carolinas Photonics Consortium (CPC) has formally announced the CPC Pilot Funding Program which will award five emerging photonics projects with seed funding for commercialization, as well as business development support. The five CPC member institutions are Clemson University, Duke University, North Carolina State University, The University of North Carolina at Charlotte and Western Carolina University. Proposals will be accepted from researchers at the five campuses.
