Asked why high-school binge drinkers might prefer liquor, Gail DiSabatino, vice president for student affairs at Clemson University, noted studies that show many youths get their alcohol from home. Troubled school's principal removed

The report by the National Dropout Prevention Center, based in Clemson, S.C., blamed the district as well as the school's leadership for the problems there. The district doesn't show support for alternative education, the report said, and it let the school leadership run amok without enough oversight. District policies combined with ineffective leadership at the school forced the school to operate "in 'survival' mode," the report said.
