Display name
This is the information used in the Web site's breadcrumb trail and in the left navigation. When adding the Display Name, consider how the name will affect the breadcrumb trail and navigation performance. A very long display name will cause text to wrap to multiple lines in the left navigation.
Title
This is the name that appears as the underlined headline in your page and at the top of the Web browser window when viewing the published page. This is also the name that is recorded when someone bookmarks your page. The title plays an important role in Search Engine Optimization (SEO). The title should describe what your page is about, in just a few words. Spaces and upper case are acceptable. Avoid generic page titles such as "Welcome."
Author
The Author is the text that fills the purple horizontal bar on your pages. The Author is the department responsible for the site, not the person creating the page.
System Name
This is the name that Cascade recognizes in the asset tree and becomes part of the site's URL. This name is also used for Search Engine Optimization.
Important things to remember with the System Name:
- The System Name is applied by choosing the System tab when creating or editing an asset.
- The System Name should be Web friendly. A Web friendly System Name is one that:
- is all lower case
- is one word or more than one word separated by a hyphen - or underscore _
- has no spaces
- contains no special characters (!@!#$%^&*)
- Every folder in your site that will be included in the left navigation must have an index page. The index page is, by default, the site's home page.
To use symbols in your Display Name, Title or Author
You must enter the symbol's number code, not the symbol icon. You can see the symbol number code by choosing the symbol icon
on the WYSIWYG toolbar and scrolling over the symbol you want. You do not need to use the symbol's number code if you enter the symbol into the content region of your page.
