Introduction
Clemson University’s top-level Web site is our largest marketing tool, used to attract potential students, faculty and staff, donors, corporate partners and visitors. The site is also a functional and educational tool for other audiences, such as current students, faculty and staff, parents, alumni and the media. With so many diverse audiences, a clear mission for the use of Clemson Web pages is imperative to the accurate portrayal of the University.
Guidelines and Best Practices
The Clemson Web guidelines explained here have been established to assist University webmasters in making informed decisions based on standards for optimal visitor experiences and Section 508 accessibility compliance. A compilation of best practices is being developed to assist webmasters in best reaching their target audiences. These best practices reflect central themes that are important when preparing Clemson Web sites, including: clarity of purpose, access for all visitors, ease of use and consistent branding.Web Leadership Team
A group of dedicated University experts has been assembled to help set the direction for Clemson’s general Web usage and to recommend best practices. A list of members and their areas of representation is available here with University ID and password.
These individuals have agreed to partner with the Office of Web Services by serving on the Web Leadership Team. This team was formed to oversee Clemson University’s strategic planning for Web management and to help people produce high-impact sites that will meet the needs of Clemson audiences.
This group meets regularly to discuss issues related to the Web; if you have an issue that you would like addressed at an upcoming meeting, please email web_services-L@clemson.edu to add your issue to the agenda.
