Dear Clemson:
Our campus will be solidly in the national spotlight this weekend as ESPN's Game Day broadcast originates on Bowman Field against a great backdrop of Homecoming displays and the Habitat for Humanity house construction.
Clemson's commitment to sportsmanship has also gained national attention. We have just been honored by the Division IA Athletic Directors Association as one of five institutions doing the most to promote sportsmanship, civility, ethics and integrity in sports. The award cited the Solid Orange: It's About Pride campaign, as well as a campus-wide sportsmanship task force which is creating "an environment that is spirited and fun, but also shows respect for teams, the University and the traditions that make Clemson special."
As we welcome our visitors from Georgia Tech to celebrate Homecoming with us, let's remember the motto of Solid Orange: It's About Pride -- Our actions honor our University, its traditions, performance, people, and each other.
Remember that Solid Orange applies on the field and off. We want the world to know that Clemson people are competitive between the goal posts, but friendly and courteous in the stands and parking lots. Sportsmanship is a shared value across the Clemson Family. It unites athletes, students, alumni, faculty, staff, coaches and fans in a common goal winning with respect and dignity. We understand that all our actions reflect directly on our university.
