Clemson University Board of Trustees Chairman David H. Wilkins has appointed a committee to lead a national search for finding the 15th president of Clemson University.
Wilkins charged the committee with the following: The hiring of a President for the University is the most important job the Board of Trustees will undertake. This Search Committee is charged to be deliberate, be thorough, be inclusive, seek input from all core Clemson constituent groups as faculty, staff, students and alumni, and to proceed with a purpose. Please recommend to the full Board no more than five, but not less than three, top quality candidates for their consideration. These candidates should be forwarded to the Board in an unranked manner as it will be the full Board’s responsibility to hire Clemson’s next president.
The Presidential Search Committee of the Clemson University Board of Trustees selected R. William Funk and Associates to help facilitate the search for the university’s 15th president. The Dallas-based firm is considered one of the nation’s leading higher education search consulting firms, and Funk, its founder and president, has personally led searches for approximately 375 college and university presidents and chancellors — including nearly 70 currently in office.
In addition to the selection of the search firm, Trustee Smyth McKissick, who chairs the search committee, said he has communicated with leaders of Clemson constituent groups — such as faculty, staff, students, alumni and volunteer advisory boards — to request their participation in the search.
