Student laying down while studyingAll new students are expected to attend an orientation session. During orientation you will meet with your academic adviser and make long-range plans for your course of study. Plan to attend one of several orientation sessions to be held throughout the summer for fall acceptance and in January for spring acceptance. You will receive details on orientation from Orientation Services, or you may call (864) 656-0515.

Curriculum Year

Students transferring may select the curriculum that was outlined in the Clemson Undergraduate Announcements at the time they entered the sending institution, provided they have been in continuous enrollment. Transfer students may also select any curriculum adopted subsequent to that initial curriculum. After enrolling at Clemson, if transfer students change from one major to another, they must complete all requirements included in the new curriculum that are in effect at the time of the change. If all course work toward a degree is not completed within six years after the initial enrollment at the sending institution, the student may be required to take additional courses.

Special Financial Aid Note for Transfer Students

1. If you have already filed your FAFSA and did not list Clemson, you may add Clemson on your paper Student Aid Report (SAR) or online by using your federal PIN.
2. After you are accepted, cancel any aid at your current school for the term(s) that you will be attending Clemson.
3. If you are a current or former student loan borrower, request your lender to send a loan certification to Clemson in order to avoid having multiple lenders. Be sure to notify the financial aid office of your preferred lender. Please note that your original loan will be processed at the freshman level. However, you may request a short-term loan at registration using the loan limit of your anticipated classification level. After you are enrolled, your actual classification level will be established, and you may then apply for an additional loan at the higher loan limit.

As a transfer student, you will be eligible for scholarship consideration after completing at least 12 credit hours at Clemson University. Please call (864) 656-2280 if you have any questions about your financial aid

Transfer Orientation Program

Credit evaluation forms may be completed during one of the Transfer Orientation sessions offered during the summer. Students accepted for the fall semester will receive more information about Orientation from the Orientation office. During Orientation you will meet with your academic adviser and make long-range plans for your course of study. Additionally, you will meet with administrators and student leaders, and have the opportunity to learn about extracurricular activities on campus.

The most efficient way to complete the transfer credit evaluation process is to attend an Orientation session. All advisers will be located in one room; no appointment is necessary. You will present course descriptions for review to individual department advisers and get final course work approval from your major adviser.

You must bring catalogs or course descriptions from each institution you have attended and your transfer evaluation forms to Orientation.
