Prospective Students
Admissions Requirements

Students on CampusFreshmen

For freshman applicants, the following factors are considered:

  • Class standing
  • Standardized test scores (SAT or ACT)
  • High school curriculum
  • Grades
  • Choice of major

Request official SAT or ACT scores to be sent directly from the test agency to Clemson University Admissions. Students applying for freshman admissions must take either the new version of the SAT that has a mandatory writing section or the ACT test with the optional writing section. Clemson requires at least one reported administration of the ACT writing section if students are submitting an ACT exam for an admissions review.

Other Application considerations:

  • Students applying to Audio Engineering, Music, or Theatre for the Production Studies major must successfully complete and pass an audition/interview with the Performing Arts Department.
  • Students applying to Visual Arts (B.F.A.) must submit a portfolio to the Art Department.
  • Physical science does not normally count as a lab science.
