Scheduled for June 9-14 at Clemson University's Camp Long in Aiken County, Fire Cadet Camp will teach fire fighting and safety skills in "a fun, exciting camp environment," according to Sarah DuBose, Extension Service fire safety specialist. "This camp is for anyone interested in the fire services as a career and anyone who just wants to learn more about fireprevention, or the fire fighting profession" she says. "We have openings for 35-40 students." All courses will be taught by instructors certified by the S.C. Fire Academy, and cadets will take a trip to the State Fire Academy in Columbia. Fire Cadet Camp is sponsored by the S.C. Firemen's Association and Clemson Extension Service. May 20 is the deadline to apply for the camp. For more information contact DuBose at (803) 656-4049.
