Jason True Osgood of Monks Corner was named one of four Clemson University Presidential Tray winners at the annual State 4-H Congress July 9 in Columbia. Clemson University President Constantine Curris presented the awards. Osgood, 18, is the son of Orville and Betty Osgood. He has been in 4-H since 1989. He is a graduate of Ferndale Baptist School, where he was involved in sports. He played on the school soccer team for three years and two years on the basketball team. This year he was named captain of the basketball team and named to the 2A Coastal All-Conference team. During his seven years as a 4-H'er, Osgood has been involved in the Charleston Pride Project. He has visited nursing homes and collected toys for migrant workers. Osgood's first love is baking. He not only bakes for his family, but he also bakes in competition. He has been in the Coastal Carolina Fair Bake-Off since 1991, and he has been the overall winner since entering. Thanks to his baking skills, he has raised money to attend camp and for school organizations with which he is involved. Osgood works with young 4-H'ers in bread workshops, teaching them the basics, such as how to measure ingredients and how to crack an egg. Other tray winners are: Tracy Laws, 16, of Chester; Matt Grier, 17, of Calhoun County; and Rebecca Ann Bozard, 18, of Orangeburg County. END
