Clemson will link fair visitors to experts on campus through live, two-way audio and video connections, according to nutritionist Libby Hoyle, a member of the committee coordinating the exhibit. The fair begins Thursday, Oct. 2, and runs through Sunday, Oct. 12. Specialists in a wide range of subject areas including gardening, youth programs and nutrition will be available to answer questions during the interactive sessions. "If someone brings in an insect they want to know about, an entomologist on campus will be able to look at it on television and identify it," Hoyle said. Interactive broadcasts will begin at the top of each hour and run about 10 minutes each from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Oct. 2-12, except for Oct. 4 and 11. On Oct. 8, the telecasts with Extension experts will be from Riverbanks Zoo and Garden. Ninety live programs are scheduled during the 10 days of the State Fair. The exhibit will also provide visitors computer access to the Clemson University World Wide Web pages, information on the university, the Cooperative Extension Service, and the Agriculture and Forestry Research System, and other information sources on the Internet. "We'll also have computer games that will emphasize good food choices for your diet," Hoyle said. Renee Lambert, a member of the Agricultural Education faculty, headed up organization for the interactive exhibit. Ann Lee McPhail, video producer with Clemson's Communications Center, will serve as campus host for the interactive broadcasts. END
