The teleconference will be held from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Walker Miller, a Clemson Extension plant pathologist, will give an overview of mushroom growing and terminology. The conference will also address the practicalities of mushroom farming through visits to five successful mushroom farms, including Mushroom Mountain and Saluda Shiitake. "There's a lot of interest out there in growing exotic mushrooms," said Miller. "In the eighties we had no mushroom growers in South Carolina. Now we have a multimillion dollar industry. "People can start out raising mushrooms as a hobby and let it grow into a business," Miller said. "Anyone in the world who can tune in to the training is welcome." To participate in the training, contact your county's Clemson Extension Office to watch at its site, or tune to: Telstar 4, KU band, longitude 89 degrees, transponder 13 on a General Instruments 4200 digital receiver, channel 313.
