"We'll look at variety trials, crop production techniques and pest management," said Mitch Roof, Clemson Extension entomologist. Producers will also get a look at cotton genetically engineered to produce the Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) toxin, which is active against bollworms and budworms. The field day begins at 1:30 p.m. under the pecan trees in front of the main office building at the Pee Dee REC. For the tour, visitors will ride tractor-drawn trailers around the center. The tour will end around 5 p.m. and dinner will be served at the center around 5:30. To get to the Pee Dee REC, exit Interstate 95 at TV Road and follow the signs. END
