DATE: 11/6/97 CONTACT: Dr. Brenda Thames, (864) 656-5717 WRITER: Giles Singleton, (864) 656-3876 Thames Receives Award CLEMSON -- Clemson Extension specialist Brenda Thames has received the Southern Region Mid-Career Award from a national Cooperative Extension Service fraternity. Epsilon Sigma Phi honored Thames on October 16 at its national meeting in Cincinnati. Thames is Extension program development specialist in the Family and Youth Development Department at Clemson and program coordinator for her department. A native of Mississippi, she joined the faculty at Clemson in 1976. As program development specialist, Thames has directed the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of statewide, research-based programs designed for families and youth in at-risk situations. In this work, she has given special emphasis to building partnerships and collaborations between agencies. She was also instrumental in establishing her department's Web pages. Thames holds a B.S. Degree in home economics from Mississippi State University, and two Clemson degrees: an M.Ed. in guidance and counseling and an Ed.D. in vocational and technical education. END
