DATE: 12/21/98 CONTACT: Charles Curtis, (864) 656-3475 WRITER: Bill Baker, (864) 656-3875 Clemson Economists to Discuss Economic Outlook for Farmers CLEMSON - The economic outlook for farmers in 1999 will be discussed by Clemson Extension economists and other experts at the South Carolina Ag EXPO held Jan. 12 and 13 in Columbia. The EXPO, which is sponsored by various farm and commodity organizations, will be held at the Sheraton Hotel and Conference Center. Clemson agricultural economists Charles Curtis, Hal Harris, Jim Rathwell and Russ Sutton will speak at the South Carolina Agricultural Outlook Conference, which will be held during the EXPO on Jan. 12 from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Other ag economists participating in the program include Kelly Zering of N.C. State University and George Shumaker of the University of Georgia. The economists will offer economic forecasts for a wide range of agricultural commodities, including soybeans, corn, cotton, wheat, milk, tobacco, beef, swine and poultry. Other events taking place at the EXPO include an extensive agricultural trade show, updates on important agricultural issues, and the annual meetings of the S.C.
