Originating from the university, the programs will be down linked to some county Clemson Extension offices and other sites on Nov. 10 and 17 from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Interaction with the audience will be available at all sites. The Nov. 10 session will focus on planning for horse safety during natural disasters such as tornadoes, hurricanes and fires. Dr. Venae Reece is coordinating the development of a statewide plan on dealing with this issue and will share her expertise. The Nov. 17 session will feature Dr. Susan White of the University of Georgia Veterinary School discussing the prevention of colic. White is known throughout the country for her understanding of the factors that influence the development of colic in horses. Following her talk, Joy Sherman of the State Department of Health and Environmental Control will talk about new animal waste regulations that are now in place. "These seminars are an excellent opportunity to gain new perspectives in the management of our horses," said Larry Hudson, equine specialist with the Clemson University Cooperative Extension Service. A small fee will be charged to defray expenses. For more information, contact your county's Clemson Extension office. END
