Frank M. Marvin, operator of Marvin's Meats at 5314 Highway 162 in Hollywood, signed a consent agreement in January of this year agreeing to the penalty, according to Charles King, director of Clemson University's S.C. Meat-Poultry Inspection Department. The violations which led to the permit revocation began in 1998. "After a formal hearing, Marvin's Meats was found to have sold, on several occasions, meat products in wholesale intrastate commerce which had not been inspected for wholesomeness," King said. "Some products were mislabeled and other products did not contain the mandatory Safe Handling Instructions label." At that time, the business had its permit suspended for 120 days and it was fined a total of $4,000. King said that Marvin's Meats later sold wholesale meats while its permit was suspended. "Marvin's Meats is not permitted to sell cooked products or multiple ingredient products such as sausage in the wholesale trade," he said. The consent agreement involving Marvin's Meats was signed by King and Jones W. Bryan, director of Clemson University's Livestock-Poultry Health Programs. END
