The Farm Foundation and the National Public Policy Education Committee presented the award Sept. 18 in Albany, N.Y. Warner and Harris were members of the Animal Confinement Policy National Task Force, which provided a big-picture look at what states were doing in response to a growing number of animal confinement concerns. "Clemson University is proud of the continued fine work of these two distinguished professionals," said Mike Hammig, department chair for Agricultural and Applied Economics. "The Farm Foundation recognizes the critical importance of public policy education to the farm and rural communities." The task force solicited funding, conducted a national survey and presented its findings in a wide range of forums including Congressional and USDA briefing requests, state legislative briefings, interest group requests and conference programs. The four other members of the award-winning project represented Colorado State, Cornell, Iowa State and Pennsylvania State universities. END
