"Executive Marketing: Developing a Marketing Plan" will feature 20 hours of hands-on instruction. Participants will receive training in commodity market analysis and the mechanics of developing a marketing plan. "Anyone who is serious about farming crops in the Southeast must consider this class," said Johnny Jordan, Clemson Extension agricultural economist and one of the instructors. The course will be taught Jan. 2-5 at Litchfield Beach and Golf Resort at Pawley's Island. "Low farm commodity prices in recent years have made good marketing absolutely essential to the farmer's bottom line," he said. "Tuition is $250, and it's money well spent," said Scott Mickey, program coordinator. He is a Clemson Extension associate with the Central S.C. Farm Management Association in Sumter. Each participant brings his own financial information to class and takes home a written marketing plan personalized to his own farming operation for the coming growing season. Instructors will be nationally recognized professors from Clemson University, the University of Georgia and Virginia Tech. Agricultural lenders and commodity brokers will also provide instruction. For more information, or to register, contact your local Clemson Extension office or Scott Mickey, Central S.C. Farm Management Assoc., P.O. Box 237, Sumter, SC 29151. Mickey's phone number is 803-775-4580. His e-mail address is smickey@clemson.edu. END
